Genie Lesson 91
When Life Is Difficult – Pivot
My husband’s father, (Bob Rogers), told him, there are three things you can affect in any circumstance you don’t like, “change your mind, change your circumstance, or change your attitude toward it.” The same advice can be applied to your wishes.
How to Pivot, is shared with us by the generous genie, Dr. Jo Ann Hammond-Meiers. This section holds some of her leading-edge work. You can learn more about Jo Ann by going to www.coachingflowsuccess.com
The pivot is a quick way to do a personal reset. Like a wish it helps you get what you want, or reframe what you have. The Pivot shares some characteristics with the reframe discussed earlier.
“The Pivot is the ability to shift perception in any circumstance or to shift the thing itself. It is a way to decrease pain, stagnation and frustration. It may open opportunities, flow and overall life options. There is a myriad of ways to look at any situation. Some ways cause pain, other ways open doors. The pivot is the ability to see 365 degrees, rather than just one way.
It also frees you up to act on what you see, increasing flexibility and options,” says Jo Ann.
The Queen of the Pivot changes her perceptions with the following ideas –101 dance
What you tell yourself affects your brain connections. Give yourself five positive messages with enthusiasm for each negative statement, image or feeling you catch yourself saying, or hearing.
Jo Ann says, “negative thoughts stick like Velcro tape.” You are hardwired to accept the negative, but being aware of your choices, attitude and habits will give you more possibilities.
Replace the messages you do not want with what you do want to say to yourself.
By giving yourself messages that are helpful you can own your voice again in any circumstance, home, work, community.
You are the creator, and you are the changer of the messages you keep and the actions you take.
Use each of your senses to reinforce the messages you want to believe. Say the new belief, visualize it, feel it, smell it, even taste it. Going from one sensory modality to another can get you unstuck.
Say your chosen message with passion and in a genuine way, so you believe it. There are many thoughts and behaviours you can choose from. Use your imagination to find them. Some are easier to access than others. Paint new images that you want to anchor in your mind. Ask how these new thoughts, (wishes) or behaviours will align with the new world you create.
Learn to pivot your thoughts, mood states, beliefs and reactions. Pinpoint what no longer serves you and pivot.
Choose one thought at a time and explore what is valued and meaningful. Validate your perspective.
Use pivoting for whatever you want to release, such as pain, loss or challenges. Whenever you are aware you are trapped in your unpleasant thoughts, remember you can pivot.
Awareness is the first tool. Consciously move from the negative thought to whatever lights you up. Find what makes you happy and reinforce it. Notice the contrast of switching from harmful to positive thoughts. Contrast can give you more clarity about what you desire.
Evaluate- what did you learn when you thought about your thoughts?
Are these the thoughts you choose to keep, now?
Or are they programmed in your neurology from earlier in your life?
Perhaps they were thoughts from negative experiences, or childhood.
If they do not serve you as an adult, you can PIVOT them.
Use one idea at a time, bring it to your awareness and make positive shifts by changing what you think, believe and focus on.
Replace and anchor messages that are not helpful with new ideas and thoughts. Pivoting offers one extra tool that brings transformation into your life.
