Welcome to Genie School
Genies have held our collective imaginations for hundreds of years. They are intriguing, magical and yet trapped. Genie’s dilemma is that even though they grant wishes to others, they are unable to live out their own desires. Humans are fascinated with genies partly because we share an equally strong quest for freedom. On the opposite pole of liberty lurks subjugation a force which seeks power over others. This authoritarian regiment, sometimes as elusive and unstoppable as a black hole enslaves and captures. This nefarious energy found in wars, institutions and people exploits genies. In legends, dark dictators go to great lengths to capture genies so that they can be granted wishes. Genies are called “djinn” in Islamic or Arabic mythology, where they originate. They are neither inherently good nor bad spirits. Djinn, comprised of fireless smoke and wind can change shape, fly or become invisible. In North American myth and movies, Genies can be trapped and when found, must grant wishes. They wear bracelets that bind them, exist in lanterns or bottles and are exceptionally long-lived. Genies are often thought to be able to grant three wishes to each person who captures them. They cannot, however, make people fall in love, kill humans or bring people back from the dead. They are moody, kind, mischievous and notoriously hard to get back into the bottle once they taste freedom. In myth, Genies are hunted because they can make significant, magical transformations for others.
Every Genie Has A Story
A Genie story weaves throughout this book.
The full story The Myth of a Genie, a Black Wizard and a Girl Named Trua, shows up later in this unit. This fable shows us that human genies can learn to make good choices and create their own magic. But, Gini relays to us, “no-one is born knowing how to choose well. It often takes creating a mess in one’s life first to learn, what not to do. For that, we have Lumera, the name of our Genie School.” Join us in Genie School, Named Lumera Gini shudders when humans suffer while waiting for others to grant their wishes. “I want humans to take their power into their own hands. It’s better for humans, and fewer Genies are captured or hurt in the process,” Gini laughs! “That is why we have created Lumera, as a place for you to learn to make choices and grant yourself (and others, but only if you choose), wishes.”

In Lumera you will open the page to the next magical chapter of your life. You will find out if you are a genie, how good you are at being one, and how to identify, avoid and escape the various traps set by others to capture your magic. The lessons will help kind, generous, genie-people protect themselves while they develop their gifts and wish-making abilities. In Genie School, you’ll find over 100 ways to enhance your life. Maybe you found us by following the colourful smoke of a genie or by responding to a desire in your heart, either way, let’s explore your new surroundings.
As you view the school from a distance, you will notice that it looks like a giant, golden lantern. We chose the name Lumera, as it seemed to conjure up the light of the genie’s lantern. Lumera is geothermally heated and lit with golden, solar light. You enter the school through the spout. You need to hold the belief that you can do this and see yourself sliding in with pleasure and ease. Lumera is exotic, plush and roomy. It is a safe place for you to be and it is filled with rich ideas and imagination. There are many rooms in Lumera for you to explore The classroom has many pod-shaped chairs that form to the shape of your body and give ultimate comfort for prolonged study. You can go high tech and use computers or low tech and bring beautiful journals; the school encourages both.
The Room of Mirrors offers students a chance to self-reflect and deepen self-awareness. There are mirrors of different styles. Some will take you to the past; others enhance your view of the present moment or give glimpses to possible futures. The Potions Room is full of beautiful bottles and mysterious drawers. There are flower essences, essential oils and many natural healing treasures for mind and spirit. Scents of your favourite flowers waft by. Living plants grow here, and they greet you by nodding their stems, welcoming you home. Magical elixirs, (essential oil blends and flower and mushroom essences), created in the Potions Room, specific for certain genie traits, such as “approval,” can be found in Unit 6.
The Wish Room is full of windows, screens, small ponds and crystal balls. You can make wishes here and see potential outcomes. You will witness many possibilities play out as you gaze into the future. It is a safe zone where wishes are not granted but explored. To make wishes you will use the Wish Template, included in the course.
The Dream Temple has many beds and comfortable, reclining chairs where you can nap or sleep overnight. Working with your subconscious and dream state is a big part of wish-making, and you can do it all here! There are many other rooms which may open to you, as you require, but this is enough to meet your genie-education needs, for the moment.
We will now move to the classroom, where most lessons are taught. Get comfy in your pod chair and feel it mould to your body. You will see Gini entering the room to introduce herself. She is a free Genie, devoted to helping you learn the art of wishing. The following lessons come from her, Laurie, (the human author) and Trua.
What You Will Learn
The first lessons deepen self-understanding. Learn to nurture and appreciate your inner genie. You will use self-reflection, flower and mushroom essences, as well as essential oils. These plant-based remedies work best when combined with the other wish-making skills and techniques taught. You will be introduced to power words, dreamwork, journaling, and strong actions, all useful ways to access your inner magic and grant your wishes. As you tap into the advice of Genies, you will complete exercises to define which desires will get you the outcomes you really want. You will also experiment with accessing your inner authority, and practice making firm decisions to manifest your goals. Gini says, “Genies are known for granting wishes, and we do it naturally and easily. Humans make wishes also, but the process is different. When they first self-reflect to find out what they want and why they want it, human wishes often turn out better. Lumera students will make choices and decisions to create the life they want to help their goals and desires come true. Spontaneous wish-making can be powerful, as well, if the intention is pure and the wish is well worded.”
How to Navigate the Genie Lessons
Since there are over 100 genie lessons in this book, don’t think you have to study every lesson at once. Work one lesson at a time. Some will take longer than others; some will be more relevant than others. The idea is to read each lesson and take the time to absorb the material. There are many new techniques to learn, meditations, and wish-making templates to practice your new skills. Genie lessons themselves vary in length from a few sentences to a few pages, but all will nurture your inner wish-maker. You will have a little space to complete the journaling exercises in this book, or you may choose to buy a separate Genie-journal to keep track of your journey. You get a wish template with this book. It is advisable to wait a month to six weeks between the formal wishes. So, savour the wish experience! There is also much more in the curriculum. But let’s first find out if you are a human genie. Is Genie School for You? Are you or someone you know a Genie? Women in particular share traits with Genies. Genie women have helped their families, bosses, and friends while putting their own goals on hold. Granting favours for those you love has its upside, but it can create personal longing or resentment. Within modern life, work, routine, and old beliefs rob choice and nibble away time, drive and inner sparkle. “When is it my turn to live the life I want,” becomes the question for the helpers?
In all legends, genies long for their release. And so do women and other kind beings who sacrifice their desires for the needs of others. Those who do get captured long to make their individual, soul imprint. So, how does a genie get emancipated and create life from their template? How can you set yourself free and learn to grant your own wishes? The purpose of Lumera is to help genies understand and nurture themselves, share how to make wise wishes and get free from what is holding them back. The school wishes to encourage genies to be authentic, rather than tame their generous, kind and loving nature. The world needs more, not fewer genies. But genies need to learn how to take care of themselves and balance their giving.
